Duke Sweeps Unc In Jon Scheyer’s First Year As Head Coach
The Dean Dome in Chapel Hill was jumping as the second rivalry game of the season Duke vs Unc was getting set to tip-off.
Duke was fighting for the sweep in the rivalry and a potential double bye in the ACC Tournament. Unc was fighting to just make the NCAA Tournament with a quad 1 win over Duke.
As I drove toward the parking garage I could see several Unc students and fans outside partying and getting ready for the game against Duke. The scene was alive and well. Check out the video below as fans are getting hyped up by the song "Jump Around" by House of Pain
The first half was a battle but Duke went into the half with a 33 - 31 lead. In the last nine minutes of the game there were eight lead changes and four ties. As one could see this was yet another close game in the rivalry coming down to the final minutes.
Flip would give Duke its final lead making two free throws at 1:38 left. Leaky Black then missed his shot as Mark Mitchell grabbed the rebound. Under a minute Duke was leading by one point as Jeremy Roach would then deliver by splitting the defense and making the layup to give Duke a three point lead 60 - 57. Duke defense would again step up as Davis couldn't covert on his drive. Duke would then get the ball after being fouled. As Mitchell inbounded the ball to Flip, he was immediately fouled and then missed the one and one. With around nineteen seconds to go and Unc down by three, Love threw up a prayer three point attempt and missed as Lively got the rebound throwed it down the court to Flip who put the nail in the coffin with the easy layup as Duke beat Unc by a score of 62 - 57.

Got a double bye in the ACC Tournament
And 'possibly' ends Unc's hopes of making the NCAA Tourney.
The mood in the Dean Dome quickly changed as you can see in my video below of the last few moments as Unc fans start leaving
As I was waiting outside the Duke locker room, I saw Jon Scheyer walk out smiling and soaking wet from the water bath the team gave him in celebration.

I myself consider that a damn good season for first year head coach Jon Scheyer. And that's not even taking into consideration of what we all know with the two away games in the state of Virginia that were very questionable...
