In a clash of college basketball titans, the Duke Blue Devils showcased their dominance over arch-rival North Carolina, sealing a resounding 87-70 victory Saturday night at the electric Cameron Indoor Stadium. The stellar freshman duo of Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel led the charge, with Flagg racking up 21 points and Knueppel contributing 22, demonstrating why they are the talk of the town. Joining their efforts, Tyrese Proctor added 17 points and Sion James chipped in 13, giving the Blue Devils a formidable offensive front.
From the outset, this game was never really in question. North Carolina briefly kept it close at 7-6, but Duke responded with a stunning 16-0 run that sent a clear message: they meant business. It was such an incredible environment tonight," he said. "Our guys really connected on defense, getting the crowd energized. It’s a game that was calling for Maliq Brown. He came in and made an impact right away. Kon was just a man out there, making big plays, and Cooper was Coop—I'm proud of this win and the effort."
Maliq Brown’s return to the court was an emotional highlight, as his defensive prowess adds another layer to Duke’s game. He displayed his sharp instincts and tenacity throughout the night, further solidifying the Blue Devil defense.GameDay was in attendance for this highly-anticipated rivalry showdown. While it’s often said that rankings are irrelevant in Duke vs. UNC matchups, Saturday’s game stood apart; there was no need for dramatic buzzer-beaters like those from Austin Ri
